The Log of the Asiatic Fleet. In the early 1900's America maintained a fleet of river boats on the Yangtzee and in China coastal ports. The movie "Sand Pebbles" with Steve McQueen is a classic portrayal. The entire fleet was known as the Asiatic Fleet. Veterans of the later time maintain an association served by a newsletter and by this log. A Facebook group and other links below assist with communications.

General information

RESERVATIONS: Please make hotel reservations before October 26, 2005. These reservations will be the basis for reunion planning. There is no charge for timely cancellation.
All reservations must be completed before March 06, 2006. After this date, hotel reservations
will be accepted on a space available basis at a non-discounted rate.
A room reservation guarantee must be provided by individual’s valid major credit card or by
advance deposits made by cash deposit or check. This will insure a room for late arrival.

Room rate includes continental breakfast in the Decades Bar & Grill. Special requests for room preferences cannot be guaranteed. Best effort will be made to meet special needs.
A check-in, a credit card imprint or a $40 cash deposit may be requested for incidental, personal and telephone charges. INDIVIDUAL CANCELLATION POLICY. Individual reservations must be cancelled before 6 p.m. (EST) ON DAY OF ARRIVAL TO AVOID ANY CHARGES. When guest rooms are cancelled, a reservation confirmation number should be obtained from the reservation clerk. Reservations cancelled after May 3, 2006 shall be charged first night’s room and tax charges plus the cost of prearranged tours.
PLEASE NOTE: Reunion attendees should make sure the have supplied the hotel and Sec/Treasurer of your arrival date and time. This will insure timely pick up at the airport; or if necessary upon arrival, call the hotel at 828.253.1851. GROUND TRANSPORTATION: Airport transportation service between the Asheville Regional Airport and the Best Western Asheville Biltmore hotel will be complimentary to paid reunion attendees of record on March 06, 2006
OTHER TRANSPORTATION; Once you arrived at Asheville Regional Airport you will find Airport Ground Transportation conveniently located in the baggage claim area. You will find transportation Available via sedan, limousine or van to Best Western Hotel from $27 for one(R/T$47.)or 2-4 persons $22.(R/T $44.) Surcharge included + gratuity. DRIVING DIRECTIONS: From West: Take interstate 40 East or interstate 26 West. Then take interstate 240 to Asheville Exit 5A, Merrimon Avenue. Stay left at traffic light onto Woodfin. The Best Western Asheville Biltmore is on your left side of Woodfin.
From East: Take interstate 40 West. Then take exit at 53B which is 240 West to Asheville Exit 5A. Merrimon Avenue. Keep left on ramp, turn left on Merrimon, and go under overpass to Broadway, then left at Woodfin St. one block to Best Western Asheville Biltmore is on your left.
UNIFORM:It is suggested we all wear our uniforms to the Memorial Ceremony (if they still fit?)
